Frequently Asked Questions

t

What if I Don’t Need a Prescription?

If our doctor determines that you don’t need a prescription medicine, he or she will recommend some over the counter medicines that can help ease your symptoms. If you have a young child who is sick, your physician will offer recommendations for over the counter medicines that are age-appropriate for your child. If you use our pharmacy partnerships, even over-the-counter medicine and some sundry items are available for delivery directly to your door.

t

Are magicMD doctors certified?

Yes! All of our doctors are board-certified internal medicine, state-certified family medicine or pediatricians, are licensed in the state of Florida and reside in the US. We chose to work with them because of their specialties in treating common travelers’ illnesses. You’ll be able to see a photo of your doctor along with their credentials before your visit.
t

Does magicMD accept insurance?

We don’t bill your insurance directly, but we can provide you with documentation to submit to your policy for reimbursement if desired. Since we see travelers from all around the world, this helps keep your cost low – less than the typical co-pay and hundreds less than an emergency room or urgent care visit.
t

What Happens During a Typical Appointment?

First, you provide us with health information just as you would at an adult or pediatric urgent care appointment, so we can match you with a doctor most suitable to treat your condition. Next, you meet your doctor and talk about the symptoms you’ve been experiencing. Your doctor asks questions about your medical history and your symptoms in an effort to accurately diagnose your condition. Once our doctor has the appropriate information, he or she diagnoses your illness. You are encouraged to ask our doctors questions about your symptoms, over the counter medicines and how long it will take to start feeling better. Our doctors are glad to help you feel more at ease while you’re recovering. If you need a prescription, our doctors can arrange to get the medicine to you.

t

What if I Am Prescribed Medicine?

Compared to traditional after-hours and urgent care clinics, magicMD offers convenience and removes hassle using our pharmacy partnerships that can deliver the prescribed medicine to you at your hotel or wherever you’re staying. If you were to go to an Orlando urgent care, you have to drive and pick up the prescription given to you by the doctor at drugstore or grocery pharmacy to have it filled. Don’t drive and wait – try us today!

t

What can’t be treated?

If you are experiencing a true emergency, dial 911 and seek help immediately. magicMD does not treat life-threatening conditions. In addition, orthopedic injuries such as major strains/sprains or broken bones must be seen in-person at a local urgent care or emergency center. Your doctor will assess your condition and if a referral to a local center is suggested, the information will be provided.
t

Does magicMD offer translation services?

Yes. Our physicians often speak several languages – but professional video translation services will soon be available in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Mandarin, Japanese and more.
t

What are the technical requirements for using magicMD?

magicMD can be accessed from nearly any device with a camera and microphone. The service is supported on all browsers and operating systems including iOS, Android and Microsoft. While a good WiFi connection is best, you can still connect with 4G LTE
data service. A system test will be performed prior to connecting with a doctor to ensure your device and connection meet minimum requirements.
t

Who Uses magicMD?

magicMD caters to anyone traveling to the Orlando area or who are looking for convenient care close to home. We serve both children and adults who are feeling ill and need quality medical care while away from home or at a time that is best for them.

t

What if I Need a Follow-Up?

If you have a sickness that requires a follow-up visit, you may have another virtual follow-up visit with any of our doctors or request the same one you saw before. Furthermore, because our magicMD doctors are specialists who serve patients locally, you can often see the doctor in-person for your follow-up visit if desired.

t

Is there a difference Between magicMD and a Walk In Clinic Near Me?

At magicMD, we practice telemedicine. This simply means that you see one of our certified doctors on video via your computer, tablet or phone instead of in-person like you would at a walk in clinic. When you see a doctor at online, you receive the same thorough examination and accurate diagnosis you would receive at a 24 hour urgent care clinic. Plus, if you need a prescription, we can prescribe medicine just as they do at a traditional urgent care clinic.

A Word About Our Compassionate, Certified Doctors

magicMD believes our patients deserve the best. Our doctors are board-certified in family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine and pediatrics. Our doctors are every bit as qualified and experienced as those working at a traditional urgent care clinic –  many came from urgent care clinics to work for magicMD! We understand how unsettling it can be to have a child, or a spouse come down with an illness while the family is away from home and not able to see the family doctor. That’s why our magicMD doctors treat every patient with compassion and understanding as we endeavor to diagnose the illness and provide treatment. So instead of asking: Is there an urgent care near me open now? You can get treatment right away by clicking on the “Connect With a Doctor” at the top of the page.

Why Would I Use magicMD Instead of an Urgent Care Clinic Near Me?

• You have the opportunity to see a qualified doctor without leaving your hotel room
• Avoid sitting in a crowded waiting room to see a doctor at a traditional Orlando Urgent Care
• Get a follow-up appointment with the same doctor who treats you online
• Get the documentation you need from us to submit the visit to your health insurance company
• Avoid waiting for hours to see a doctor
• Enjoy delivery of your prescribed medications
• Avoid asking the question: Is there an Urgent Care near me open now?

If you are traveling in the Orlando area and you or a family member become ill, magicMD is here for you. We want you to leave Orlando with happy vacation memories. Get treatment from one of our certified doctors so you can get back to enjoying your time in the Sunshine state!
